P & I welcome new project engineer

On Tuesday 1st September, P & I welcomed new project engineer, Ian Brown, to the team.

Although, Ian is not from the critical power industry, he has an extensive engineering background and specifically in the project management arena.

Ian’s engineering career began over 30 years ago when he completed his apprenticeship with Harlow based Cosser Electronics, an MOD contractor. After working his way through the technician ranks, Ian decided he needed a change of industry to ensure he continued to challenge himself.

Ian then began his career in airport industry by starting as a senior technician at Stanstead Airport. Yet again, Ian worked his way through the ranks before taking his first project management role in 2000 at Heathrow Airport as a junior project manager. Since then, Ian has been involved in many airport projects.

With years of experience under his belt, Ian decided to branch out and start his own consultancy business providing project management services to the airport industry. He worked at a number of popular airports including Heathrow, London City, Southampton and Geneva.

In 2015, Ian went back to employed life working in design management at Gatwick Airport and was involved in several major projects. After working at Gatwick for the last 5 years, Ian decided it was time for another change of scenery.

Commenting on joining P & I, Ian said:

“After spending years within the airport industry, I needed a new challenge and wanted to focus on a specific engineering discipline. I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and transfer my skills into a totally different industry.

I’m really looking forward to my time at P & I, it’s such a vibrant office and an extremely exciting company to work for.”

From everyone here at P & I, we would like to welcome Ian to the team!
