P & I welcome new service engineer

On Monday 8th March, P & I welcomed new service engineer, Michael Pragnell, to the team.

Michael joins us from the marine industry where he has gained a variety of experience on commercial vessels, working his way from cadetship through to 2nd engineer. As a marine engineer on super yachts ranging from 50-110m, Michael was responsible for undertaking maintenance of all the machinery onboard, from diesel engines through to hydraulics and electrical systems.

Michael was also part of an engineering team for a new build mega-yacht that was launched in 2018. He assisted in the set-up of its onboard planned maintenance system and worked on the commissioning of the systems with senior engineers.

Commenting on joining P & I, Michael said:

“I was looking for a shore based role so I could be at home more with my family. I wanted to work in what originally got me into engineering in the first place, engines. I’m excited to test the waters and thrive in a strangely new, but somewhat familiar industry.”

Managing Director, Ashley Benfield, commented:

“I’m delighted to announce Michael’s arrival, his experience within the marine industry will serve him well in his new role as service engineer. We have quite a few team members who have come to us from the marine industry which is great because their skills are so transferable. I would like to personally welcome Michael to the team and wish him the best of luck in his new role.”

Following the successful completion of his induction, Michael is now out in the field shadowing one of P & I’s experienced engineers.

From everyone here at P & I, we would like to welcome Michael to the team!
