On Monday 7th June, P & I welcomed service engineers Andrew Porter and Ian Murrell to the team.
Andrew is a time served mechanical engineer with over 20 years’ experience of working with diesel engines and diesel generators. His past work includes working as a marine power engineer for a well-known manufacturer of construction and mining equipment. As part of his previous roles, Andrew has been involved in complete rebuilds, research and development and included working on emissions.
With his strong service and maintenance background, Andrew will be a great fit for P & I’s team of service engineers.
Joining on the same day as Andrew, was fellow service engineer, Ian. Ian brings a wealth of experience and knowledge with him for his new role, having worked with turbines, petrol, diesel and gas engines in his past roles. Following the completion of his Industrial Electrical & Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship, Ian went on to join the Royal Navy as a marine engineer, originally on submarines then assigned to the Royal Marines. Since then, Ian has gone on to gained his Marine Engineering Diploma, Industrial Electrical & Mechanical Engineering BTEC and a City & Guilds Electronic Servicing 224 and Gas Safe.
Like Andrew, Ian also has a strong service and maintenance background which will service him well in his new position.
Commenting on their arrival, managing director, Ashley Benfield, commented:
“It’s a pleasure to welcome both Andrew and Ian to the P & I team. We’ve had quite a few members of staff recently who have joined us from the marine industry, which is great because their skill sets are so transferable to the critical power industry. I would like to wish them the best of luck with their new roles and look forward to working with them.”
From everyone here at P & I, we would like to welcome Andrew and Ian to the team!
