1
The Brief
LBS subcontracted P&I Group to install an uninterruptible power supply system for the sprinkler system at One Town Centre in Hatfield.
The site is a mixed-use development made up of 71 residential units and five commercial spaces across three blocks. A reliable UPS system was required to provide emergency backup power to the sprinkler system in the event of a mains power failure.
The project formed part of the wider life safety provision for the building, helping ensure the sprinkler system remained protected against power disruption.
2
The Challange
The sprinkler system served a mixed-use residential and commercial development, meaning reliability was essential.
If the site experienced a power cut or electrical issue, the sprinkler system needed to remain supported by a suitable backup power solution. The UPS installation also had to be completed within a tight project timeline, requiring careful coordination and efficient delivery on site.
The challenge was to install a UPS system that could provide the required autonomy, support life safety requirements and be delivered to a high standard within the programme.
3
The Soultion
P&I Group installed a 30kVA Riello Sentryum S3T Active UPS with an external battery cabinet to provide the required backup autonomy.
The system was also supported by a maintenance bypass arrangement, allowing future servicing to be carried out while helping maintain system availability.
P&I Group worked with LBS from the start of the project, providing technical input, installation support and professional delivery throughout the demanding programme.
4
The Result
The completed UPS installation provides emergency backup power support for the residential sprinkler system at One Town Centre.
With the new UPS system and maintenance bypass in place, the sprinkler system is better protected against power cuts and electrical disruption. P&I Group also provides annual UPS servicing with a four-hour response time to faults, helping support ongoing reliability.
LBS provided positive feedback on the project, highlighting P&I Group’s technical expertise, professionalism and ability to deliver a critical system within a tight timeline.
